Volunteer role: Local Area Fundraising and Awareness Volunteer - London
Purpose To support your Local Coordinator to raise funds and awareness for Missing People.

Local Development
Location: Community based activities (in addition you may be asked to attend meetings or activities at the Local Coordinator’s local office or Missing People Central Office in Mortlake).
Time commitment: The specific nature of the role will affect the hours worked and will be discussed at interview. These will be different for each volunteer. It may be that you volunteer 10 hours over a weekend once every couple of months or more regularly give 4 hours a week. However we do expect commitment of a minimum of 1 year. Due to the nature of the role some evening and weekend activities may be required.
Dependent on your skills and experience duties may include:
- Organising and supporting local events that raise money and awareness for Missing People
- Presenting to various community groups, including schools and churches, about Missing People to inspire them about our work with vulnerable missing persons and their families
- Identifying and recruiting companies and community organisations to support us
- Recruiting new volunteers and working with the existing volunteer team
- Supporting Missing People’s work at our own and partners’ events
- Supporting your Local Coordinator as requested to help increase support for Missing People
Skills and experience:
To have or be able to demonstrate potential for:
- Some fundraising experience – either organising fundraising activities or participating yourself
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written and experience of presenting to large and small groups of people
- Strong organisational skills and good time management
- Competence using computers, Microsoft Office, internet, e-mail
- The ability to inspire and motivate others and be passionate about supporting missing people and their families
Training:
All necessary training will be provided by your Local Coordinator
Support:
You will be supported in your role by your Local Coordinator, including one to one reviews to guide you in your role, with additional support when necessary from central office.
